Heavy Load ! is essentially a mixed version of some of my 8 tracks compilations and shares a few of the tracks.
Give it a listen if you are so inclined.

September 70’s Reflections of the Life Aquatic

This is the first mix of 2012 and I've chosen to kick the beat mostly to the sidelines in favour of the more dramatic incidental music side of the library music genre.

I've taken on an expansive theme, and with any luck, have done it justice.

  19. Nihon Boko Ankokushi Ijosha No Chi - Kill Theme (with song)

I don't know if you can tell but I had an immense amount of fun doing this mix. It seems to be a tribute to fuzz guitar and wah wah pedal as much as it's a tribute to Pinky Violence / Yakuza style soundtracks from the mid to late 60's to the early to mid 70's.

If you haven't explored the genre of Japanese Soundtracks I strongly suggest that you do, there is a wealth of interesting music - Toshiaki Tsushima being one of the masters, also Hajime (So or Sou) Kaburagi.

Information is difficult to come by, just as much as the music is since the original text is Japanese - most of these soundtracks have been re-issued via Ultra-Vybe (Solid Records, Hotwax) and a lot of the tracks are doubled up on the amazing 'Go! Cinemania' compilations.

If you wish to explore some of the music - including the non psyche/funky material Wildgrounds is a good place to start.

If you wish to download '19 Killing Shots That Rang Out Under a Blood Red Sun' you can do so here.

Best downloaded and played LOUD !
Enjoy.

Vinyl Miners - Taurus Beta

Absolutely fantastic mix by Vinyl Miners on mixcloud. There is no track listing, so for all you enthusiasts of library, early electronica, 60's & 70's obscuriosities and dusty outsider music you can have some fun trying to spot the tracks. I did.

Please give it a listen or visit http://vinylminers.tumblr.com/ for more of the same quality mixing. As with my minor tirade on the DJ Alfonso post, it's nice to be appreciated so please show some support for the people trying to keep this music alive.

Enjoy.

Enter the House of Terror with September 70

Did you ever wonder what was behind the door of that boarded up old house? A hollow shell of brick and timber where the sounds of laughter and life that once filled it’s walls with warmth and hope has now been replaced with the creaks and groans of unrest and despair.
When you pass, for a fleeting second, you think you see a face at the window. But that can’t be, can it? No one has lived there for years. It’s a home in disrepair, unoccupied and alone. It’s a house that has lost it’s very essence, a house that has lost a soul.
This time, for some unknown reason, you decide to try the door. To your surprise it opens easily under your touch. The first thing that hits you upon stepping into the building is the smell. It’s the smell of neglect, and under that is the sweet sickly odour of past decay. Maybe there’s a dead rat behind the walls? Yes, that’s got to be it.
With a growing sense of unease you walk slowly down the hall toward another closed door. A chill runs down your spine, your skin begins to feel prickly with gooseflesh and you can’t shake the sudden sense of foreboding. You’ve seen enough old 70’s horror movies to know that this wasn’t your best idea.  You curse your all so human curiosity and put your fears to one side.
You can hear a hissing and crackling coming from the room ahead.  It sounds very much like the pops of static. After what seems an eternity you reach the door. You push it open tentatively only to see an old record player sitting in the centre of an otherwise empty room. You lift the arm from the runoff and place the needle back at the beginning of the dusty record, sit on the bare floorboards and start to listen…..
